from Chamberlain, SD to Mitchell, SD

It was a pretty easy ride with no big hills, no strong winds, and sunny weather. I figure you've seen wheat fields so I didn't take any pictures of the farmland. Mitchell has a cute downtown, historical area, and the Corn Palace. I also visted Dalota Wesleyen University and bought a T-Shirt (of course).

a few more pictures on the way to Pierre, SD

wish you could SEE this incredible wind

from Wall, SD to Ft. Piere, SD

Long ride, strong winds (20 miles of headwinds like you wouldn't believe), rolling hills that just won't end, 16-wheelers blowing you off the road....and millions of grasshoppers that you crunch constantly under your wheels....not what I call a Sunday afternoon ride in the park.....

from Rapid City, SD to Wall, SD

You can tell by the fact that I have only one picture that it wasn't the more exciting ride today. Lots of big rolling hills, and heat, and riding on the shoulder of I-90 for a long ways didn't inspire me much.........

going through Black Hills to Rapid City, SD

Lots of hills! Visited the Crazy Horse Monument (bought a T-shirt, of course). Got caught up twice in a hail storm. But, now, the big mountains are behind us. Tomorrow is a short day to Wall, SD.

more pics on the way to Lusk, WY

more pics going to Lusk, WY

Casper, WY to Lusk, Wyoming

The conditions were good for riding - cool weather with high clouds, no headwinds, pretty smooth roads, and the 109 miles I rode didn't tire me out too much. Lots of pretty farms and land. I say "good riddance" to the Rockies and the Cascades! Gotta run since this is the only computer in the motel tonight at Lusk, WY (pop. 1,447).

Casper, WY and the North Platte River

It's our rest day here, and everyone is exhausted - even the very fast riders. It's pretty weather - sunny, 81 degrees, clear skies - and we are all walking around the downtown area, which is kind of cute.

more pics on the road to Casper, WY

from Riverton, WY to Casper, WY

I really think we should have left Wyoming to the animals and the Indians. I bet it would be beautiful with the buffalo and elk everywhere. It's not populated much now, though. Long ride, but nice weather today, although headwinds slowed us down. Tomorrow is a "rest day" in Casper, WY.
